The Buxton Festival!

Booking has just opened for this year’s Buxton Festival (10-26 July)

This has become one of the most popular and highly-thought of festivals in the UK. It includes opera, music, literary events and a fringe, over 3 busy weeks. Operas take place in the stunning Opera House, built in 1903 in the heyday of Buxton’s popularity as a spa town, and beautifully renovated in 1979 and again at the turn of this century.

Book a table for dinner afterwards just across the road in The Old Hall Hotel, said to be the oldest in the country. It was built by Bess of Hardwick, who also built Hardwick Hall, and Mary Queen of Scots was kept there 1576-8.
